The basic grammar course will provide an introduction into the basic rules and patterns of English grammar for the purpose of strengthening students’ abilities to communicate effectively with confidence and clarity. It will cover many relevant topics, including sentence structure, writing basics, as well as review basic English structure in the form of nouns, verbs, prepositions, adjectives, adverbs and many others.
The Sentence
Define what a sentence is. Recognize various functions of a sentence. Recognize English parts of speech. Identify English parts of speech in sentences.
Sentence – Subject and Predicate
Recognize subject and predicate in a sentence. Distinguish various types of subjects and predicates. Compose sentences using the correct subject and predicate.
Direct and Indirect Object
Define what an object in a sentence is. Distinguish direct and indirect object. Identify verb, direct and indirect object in sentences.
Phrase and Clause
Define what phrase and clause are. Distinguish phrase and clause. Identify phrase and clause in sentences.
Intermediate Grammar
Learning Goals
This course is designed for learners who have a basic understanding of English grammar but who want to learn more and improve their skills for everyday speaking or writing, as well as for academics. Students will learn about important intermediate verb tenses, including present perfect, present perfect progressive, past perfect, and past perfect progressive including common modal verbs used in English.
Simple Present Tense
Define what simple present tense is. Recognize the structure of simple present tense. Distinguish various functions of simple present tense. Apply simple present tense in sentences correctly. Generate WH questions using simple present tense. Perform short answers with ‘do’ and ‘does’. Identify errors in sentences.
Simple Past Tense
Define what simple past tense is. Recognize the structure of simple past tense. Distinguish various functions of simple past tense. Apply simple past tense in sentences correctly. Generate WH questions using simple past tense.
Simple Future Tense
Define what simple future tense is. Recognize the structure of simple future tense. Distinguish various functions of simple future tense. Recognize various contractions when using simple future tense. Apply simple future tense in sentences correctly. Generate WH questions using simple future tense. Make predictions using simple future tense.
Present Continuous Tense
Define what present continuous tense is. Recognize the structure of present continuous tense. Distinguish various functions of present continuous tense. Apply present continuous tense in sentences correctly. Discuss some real life situation pictures using present continuous tense.
Advanced Grammar
Learning Goals
Advanced English Grammar is the last English Grammar series which is intended to reinforce students Grammar mastery at the highest level for both receptive and productive skills needed for both presenting and coping with their studies. The materials range from the use of authentic materials to the analysis of advanced grammar exercises taken from international standardized tests (TOEIC, TOEFL, etc.) in terms of grammar uses.
Present Continuous and and Present Simple 1
