Cakap and PT SRA Launched Digital English Program Aid in Muna

Jakarta, March 10, 2021 – #CakapUntukBangsa, which is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program from Cakap, is again providing digital English language training aid. This time, Cakap collaborated with PT Sele Raya Agri (SRA), a company that engages in the Industrial Plantation Forest (HTI) business. In this collaboration, Cakap and PT SRA will provide English language training aid to children in Laghontoghe Village, Tongkuno District, Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

PT SRA fully entrusts this training to Cakap. According to PT SRA, Cakap is considered a competent partner to run English language training programs for children in Muna. The success of Cakap in running the CSR program during the pandemic is a strong reason for PT SRA to collaborate with Cakap, especially in providing English language training programs to children in Muna. Moreover, this program is not an ordinary CSR program. This training program is designed to prepare children to master the English language, as one of the skills that would be beneficial in the future of the region, from the early stage.

Cecillia Ong, Vice President of Business Development from Cakap said, “The Cakap program that we call Cakap Untuk Bangsa is not just a CSR program. However, the Cakap Untuk Bangsa program aims to improve the ability of local communities to have the opportunity to compete in employment in accordance with the most basic context and skills, the ability to speak foreign languages without having to leave the ecosystem of the place of birth and existing work ”

Therefore, through this training program, Cakap and PT SRA have the main goal of helping children in the vicinity of PT SRA’s teak seedling locations. With this training, children in the Muna area are expected to be able to open their horizons and improve the quality of human resources. Muna Island is known as one of the potential tourist destinations in Indonesia that have attracted the attention of tourists. Thus, it is important to prepare the quality of local human resources for the future. Realizing this, Cakap and PT SRA collaborated to improve their ability to communicate in foreign languages, especially English.

“Cakap and PT SRA want to improve the ability to communicate foreign languages from the local community in order to increase Muna’s attractiveness to foreign tourist arrivals and improve business skills and the standard of living of the local community with the beauty of its natural potential,” said Cecillia

Later, the CSR program initiated by Cakap and PT SRA which will be realized in the form of a Digital English Program is intended for children aged 10 to 16 years. Until now, there are 30 children in Muna who have been given the opportunity to learn English through group classes in the Digital English Program. However, Juchiro Tampi as the President Director of PT SRA hopes that the number of these training recipients can increase.

“We provide online education to 30 children on Muna Island who excel and hopefully these 30 children will increase to 60 children, 60 children will increase to 100 children,” said Juchiro.

Children who will be given English language training can take part in this program for 6 months starting from March 11, 2021. However, before this training program was implemented, children in Muna had already done a placement test, precisely on March 6, 2021. The goal is that the learning process can be adapted to the abilities of these children.
