Indonesia’s Digital Transformation of Education – Startup Perspectives

Right now, the world of education can be influenced by the rapid development of civilization. The development of formal or non-formal education implementation is very necessary, especially in Asian countries, where the field of education is experiencing rapid growth. As an integral part of people’s lives in the global era, Education has to be able to give and facilitate the growth of intellectual, social, and personal skills. With the variety of sophisticated technology that we have, there are still many recurring problems that inhibit the growth of the world of education. Therefore, entrepreneurs of the education technology industry continue to develop the service system to help fulfill the needs of education.

This time, organized by the community network of EdTech Asia, the 2019 EdTech Asia Summit will discuss innovations in the world of education that hopefully creates collaboration and expand connections within entrepreneurs of the education technology industry.

The EdTech Asia Summit, held at Raffles City Convention Center, Singapore, was held for 2 days, between August 1-2, 2019. It offers new insights regarding the future of the rapidly developing world of education in Asian countries. A variety of complex issues are discussed by bringing together influential EdTech activists from across and outside Asia, including entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, corporate executives, governments, academics, consultants, and leaders.

This prestigious event, which has more than 100 speakers, discussed regional trends, unexpected dynamics, and investment opportunities. It also discussed the possibility of what will happen in the future, especially in the realm of technological education.

Cakap, as one of the Indonesian representative in EdTech Asia Summit 2019, explained that the challenges in the world of education technology in the present times are quite enormous. Tomy Yunus, the Co-founder & CEO of Cakap, stated that “Even though the people of Indonesia are aware of technology, there are still many who don’t understand the importance of this technology-based education, which should have been integrated with the culture of learning in the community. Another challenge is the infrastructure of the internet connection which hasn’t been distributed evenly, resulting in the limited access of technology-based education among the community.”

Together with other speakers, namely Paul Sabda (Founder & CEO of Zenius), Rizky Muhammad (Founder & CEO of Youthmanual) and Amanda Witdarmono (Zenius). Indonesia, represented by Cakap and Zenius, were very enthusiastic to share their experiences through one of the agendas of the event called “EdTech and Indonesia’s Education Policy – Expert Insights Into The Road Ahead”.

With the presence of Cakap and Zenius, there is certainly no doubt that the two EdTech Companies from Indonesia will continue to look for opportunities to be able to achieve an “EdTech” system that benefits many people, especially for those who need education.

It is hoped that there will be more newcomers in the EdTech industry that continues to innovate in the future. We need to advance the educational level of Indonesia, which is the foundation for our children’s future.
