Fill in the joy of the Kids’ Ramadan through Recitation Competition with CAKAP and Wahid Foundation

Jakarta, 20 April 2021 – We have been in the holy month of Ramadan for a week now. There are so many things that can be done if you want to get a lot of rewards during this blessed month. This is also the perfect moment to start teaching your little one the meaning of fasting and performing good deeds in Islam.

Recitation skill is the basic skill a kid can learn in order to understand Islamic religious education through the Al-Quran. Cakap holds a series of online activities that are expected to be useful and increase the faith in worship during the holy month of Ramadan.

“The fun that is limited by the conditions of health protocols during the pandemic, of course, will not dull the enthusiasm of the reciting champions from all over Indonesia in the ‘Jagoan Mengaji Cilik’ competition. Although the series of activities that we organize with the Wahid Foundation are only carried out online through Cakap application and promoted through social media and various partners’ channels, we hope that the participants aged 4 to 12 years can continue to hone various skills from an early age, which during the holy month it is prioritized to deepen our faith through reading,” stated Tomy Yunus, Co-founder and CEO of Cakap, in a press statement (20/04).

The ‘Jagoan Mengaji Cilik’ competition, is one of Ramadan activities in Cakap Raya Fest, a collaboration program from Cakap with Wahid Foundation. There will be two winners coming from 2 (two) categories, where the winner of the first category is the winner of the assessment result of the competence to recite Al-Qur’an by Wahid Foundation and the second category, the ‘favorite’ winner will be judged by the highest number of likes on the reciting video uploaded on the participant’s social media accounts. The winners are also entitled to receive millions of rupiah in cash as well as English learning scholarships from Cakap. Registration for participants has been open since the beginning of the month of Ramadan, and it is expected that the upload of participants’ reciting videos will be received no later than May 6, 2021.

“We welcome the activities carried out by Cakap in the momentum of this month of Ramadan. As an innovative learning platform that focuses on education through technology, this activity is very similar to the commitment and vision of the Wahid Foundation in building the nation’s life through the introduction of peaceful and tolerant Islamic values,” explained Mujtaba Hamdi, Director of the Wahid Foundation

He also stated that the Al-Quran tarteel competition ‘Jagoan Mengaji Cilik’ will certainly provide a different experience of the reciting competition for children during the pandemic. “Children who already know the letters of the Qur’an are also expected to be brave, confident, and give their best in understanding the rules of reading the Qur’an well, or also known as tajwid,” he added.

Beside ‘Jagoan Mengaji Cilik’, Cakap Raya Fest also supports Ramadan worship activities to increase faith, through the presentation of da’wah videos with Awadah Da’wah which can be watched through Cakap application during the month of Ramadan.

Cakap also presents fun and inspiring activities while waiting for iftar time through Cakap‘s Instagram account. Starting from shows of traveling to other countries that are shown virtually with stories about the culture, history, and traditions of Ramadan in that country to a cooking class in collaboration with ‘Cakap Upskill’ program from Cakap application, in order to provide inspiration or cooking ideas for iftar and suhoor dishes during Ramadan.

The series of online activities in the Cakap Raya Fest are expected to be useful and enjoyable for all of the society during Ramadan. In addition to worship activities that are always longed for, in the month of Ramadan there are many opportunities to do good deeds and positive activities that will increase rewards, piety, and faith. It should be a provision to continue it in the future.
