Cakap Provides Access to Qualified Education in Indonesia

Cakap Releases Social Impact Report Focusing on Digital Transformation and Democratization of Boundless Qualified Education

Jakarta, May 5 2021 – Not only our daily life has undergone a digital transformation, the education system, especially in Indonesia, has also experienced the transformation of learning methods towards digital in the past year, ever since the social restrictions and the implementation of the distance learning system (PSJJ) for all educational institutions.

In the momentum of National Education Day, Cakap, the pioneer of online learning applications, published the ‘Social Impact Report 2020’ on May 3, 2021. The report tells how Cakap utilizes information technology as a platform that serves leading learning solutions, which has provided access to qualified education without requiring students to visit educational institutions in general.

Tomy Yunus, Co-founder and CEO of Cakap stated “Starting from our belief that access to qualified education is a tool that can change lives, Cakap is established by utilizing the advanced technology that is easy and flexible to support the improvement of human resources’ competence. We are not only targeting students but also education agents, so that together they can build their respective qualities for the nation’s growth in the future.”

Tomy also explained that “For us, 2020 is a year of learning and transition, as well as a momentum where Cakap takes part in supporting the Government’s efforts to continue to provide effective education to students, even if there is no face-to-face meeting.” The fact that 94% of students have lost access to education in schools due to the pandemic, bringing the EduTech learning system has become the most logical alternative solution to be adapted by educational institutions.

Not only due to the case of pandemic, but with Indonesia’s population spread across 17,400 islands, a balance and equitable access to education has always been a challenge. The readiness of Cakap’s facilities as one of the EduTech service providers, has brought Cakap to be a bridge that connects students and teachers from more than 95 cities, in 34 provinces.

In the report, it is explained that during 2020, Cakap has helped empower more than 600 professional teachers from all corners of Indonesia, so that these teachers will be able to earn a stable income while feeling comfortable in teaching because they can teach from anywhere, even meet their students who are more than 5.000 KM away. Cakap also continues to develop partnership programs with more than 188 companies, foundations, and government institutions to provide access to qualified education in underdeveloped villages across the archipelago, such as Toba, Sumba, Lombok, Halmahera, to Sorong.

In terms of improving education services, here are some social influences that can be highlighted during Cakap’s journey in 2020.

  • Across Indonesia, more than 120.000 students have successfully completed the learning programs through Cakap,
  • Cakap has held more than 500.000 class sessions throughout the year,
  • More than 13.000 families in underdeveloped villages are socially affected because their children have the opportunity to have special and intensive qualified education through Cakap’s platforms.

These impacts are the concrete actions taken by Cakap in its mission to promote a digital learning system as a tool that can eradicate the inequality in the access to qualified education in Indonesia. “Continuing our commitment, Cakap will continue to strive to bring Indonesia forward by contributing in producing Indonesia’s superior human resources, in order to increase the nation’s competence so they can be highly competitive in the eyes of the world,” concluded Tomy Yunus.

Cakap’s 2020 Social Impact Report provides a real picture of the results of Cakap’s efforts in improving the quality of human resources through skills development, which will certainly contribute continuously to Indonesian education in the future.
