Cakap Untuk Bangsa Program Provides Access to Quality Education through Collaboration with YCAB, SRB, and Protelindo

Jakarta, October 1 st 2020 – Since 2019, the Cakap Untuk Bangsa (CUB) program has provided online English learning activities in various parts of Indonesia. The program initiated by Cakap, as an Indonesian startup, sees this as an opportunity to “step in” to participate in building education in Indonesia through digital technology to provide access to learning online.

As an initiative program to provide easy access to foreign language learning, especially English through online learning platforms wherever and whenever, Cakap has reached students in various 3T areas, such as the Anambas Islands (Riau Islands), in Krayan (North Kalimantan), and Sabu Regency. Raijua (East Sumba).

This year, Cakap is working with several institutions, private companies, and organizations to realize equal access to quality education. One of them is the collaboration with the Cinta Anak Bangsa Foundation (YCAB), a non-profit organization that focuses on building independence for underprivileged youth through education and economic empowerment. YCAB, which was founded in 1991, has collaborated with the Cakap application to provide free English learning for students from the BANGLI learning house. The activities carried out in Bali will last for one year, with the majority of the participants coming from Senior High School.

Cakap has also collaborated with PT Sele Raya Belida (SRB) by carrying out corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. The Cakap Untuk Bangsa Program with SRB will hold 6 months of English lessons for 50 people in Muara Enim Regency, Gelumbang District, South Sumatra. During the program, elementary to high school students will be provided with a tablet device where if the participant has completed the program, the tablet device will become the participant’s property.

Currently, Cakap has announced a collaboration with the largest independent tower operator for wireless operators in Indonesia, PT Profesional Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Protelindo). Cakap and Protelindo provide early career scholarships and TOEFL preparation training to 4 campuses, namely Bandar Lampung University, Bina Darma University, UKI Toraja, and Musamus University. As many as 50 students are targeted to take part in the training program which will start in October.

Ir. Indriati Agustina Gultom, M.M. Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development at the University of Bandar Lampung said, “There are 1500 students at the University of Lampung who we provide scholarships, one of which is this collaboration. With the Cakap and Protelindo programs we feel very helpful, especially with the provision of language learning materials that will help prepare our children to enter the professional level.”

“Through these two programs which will last for 7 months, we aim to prepare skills for students to face the professional level.” Said Okky Brahman Arimurti, Marketing Communication Manager of Protelindo at the launch of the collaboration program.

In addition, Cakap with Protelindo also initiated free English learning activities for students in Medan, Deli Serdang, Bandung, Surabaya and Semarang. This program will start in mid-October and will last for 6 months. By teaching general English material, it is targeted to be able to help 100 people improve English skills for elementary to high school students.

“In previous years we conducted offline scholarship activities to secondary schools and universities, but in this pandemic era, we are trying to provide new innovations through collaboration with Cakap as an online learning platform.” Said Okky Brahman Arimurti.
