Jakarta, January 19 2023. The “Magang Kampus Merdeka” is a certified internship program that has been taking place at Edtech Cakap since August 2022 and officially ends in the second week of January 2023. Quoted from the website of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud), the Internship Program provides opportunities for students to learn and develop themselves outside the class. With hands-on learning in partner workplaces, interns will gain hard and soft skills that make students better prepared to start their careers as a professional after graduation.

Tomy Yunus, CEO and Co-Founder of Cakap expressed his appreciation for the spirit of learning and the contribution that has been made by the “Magang Kampus Merdeka” interns at Edtech Cakap

“Cakap is very happy to have these young people from this program. Congratulations to all who successfully completed the program. I hope that the knowledge and network that has been owned for more than four months can be useful and will help determine the direction of the interns’ career journey,” added Tomy.

On the same occasion, Jihad Wafda, Partnership Manager of Certified Internships and Independent Studies (MSIB), congratulated and shared a piece of advice to the participants who had completed the Merdeka Internship program. In his message, Jihad hopes that the participants can apply the knowledge they have gained in the future in the world of work.

“We can witness the process of more than 67,671 registrants; 27,987 students were selected for the whole program and approximately 60 students for internships at Cakap. MSIB hopes that with the completion of this program, in the future Indonesian human resources can be better. Because since the fifth semester, the participants have been able to absorb knowledge in the world of work. Hopefully, the provisions of this program can be useful in the future for interns’ career journey,” said Jihad.

Introduction of Hybrid work system in prospective workers

One of the interns, Dinda Puspitasari from Udayana University, expressed her gratitude to all parties who helped and supported her during this program. The cultural anthropology student got an experience that changed her perception so far about the real work atmosphere, especially the hybrid system that is applied in tech-based companies.

“Before joining this program, I had the mindset that working is mandatory on-site or work from the office (WFO). However, after finishing the internship program at Cakap, I could work at my own place or from home (WFH). Even more, I had time to work from a distance while taking some leisure time to Bandung, and I could still achieve the target. After my internship at Cakap, I became open-minded and thought that work was not just a matter of place. Hopefully, we will still be able to work with schemes (hybrid systems) like this,” concluded Dinda.

The Merdeka Internship Program at Edtech Cakap lasts for approximately six months. The interns are divided into two divisions, namely the education division and the business development division. All mentees get mentors directly from Cakap Squad, so that knowledge transfer is more effective. Students participating in this program vary from notable higher education institutes in Indonesia, such as the University of North Sumatra, Airlangga University, to the Ujung Pandang State Polytechnic.
